"One" for me is an exercise in combining my classical and theory trained background with an effort to make more organic sounding electronic music. We have always put a much bigger emphasis on the songwriting writing of tracks than professional superb production, so this was also a chance to see how well I could put 10 years of production into making something that sounded human and natural, something I personally find more difficult and rewarding than making "pro" sounding tracks.

It has also been important for us that the music we write is actually music, and not just electronic sounds. As we go into our next ten years I want to expand on this idea by focusing more on songwriting and complex harmonies, thereby hoping to capture the attention of a greater audience. I've been heavily influenced by composer/producers recently, so "One" is a real reflection of that idea.

The ups and downs of "One" are supposed to be a journey of sorts, which explains the length. Stripped of the many layers we usually incorporate into our songs, I found it a good exercise to make a long track interesting with less sounds; the less is more concept.

I hope you enjoy listening as music as I did writing.

Thanks, Slice One
